The UMass football team held its annual Pro Day on Thursday at McGuirk Stadium.
The University of Massachusetts held its annual pro day on March 26 outdoors on FieldTurf, with representatives from eight NFL teams in attendance to watch eight former Minutemen, including Ben Coblyn, Liam Coen, Courtney Robinson, Sean Smalls, Ian Jorgensen and Brian Ellis took part in various drills for close to a dozen NFL scouts on hand. The Minutemen are hopeful of getting a chance to be signed by an NFL team this spring.as well as players from five area schools. Two former UMass players to watch are OL Ben Coblyn (6-6 1/2, 304 pounds) and DB Sean Smalls (6-0 1/8, 197 pounds).
Coblyn ran times of 4.96 and 5.03 seconds in the 40-yard dash and had a 31-inch vertical leap and an 8-foot, 11-inch broad jump. He had a 4.68 time in the short shuttle and a 7.46 time in the three-cone drill, and he did 21 repetitions on the bench press at 225 pounds. His arms measured 35 7/8 inches.
